Today’s book club lunch bunch discussion cards asked them: to identify which bad guy character they would be, relate to the characters about having friends different than you, analyze what it means to be good even though the characters are “bad” and give examples from the book. Yay Books!📚 💛💙🐻

We have the most awesome librarian at BCE. She started a new Book Club and we had a great turnout. This week, they had their first meeting. Many 2nd graders had lunch in the library while they read Chapter 1 of The Bad Guys. Yay books!

💖🐻 Spreading Kindness at Bear Creek! 🐻💖 We had such a wonderful time celebrating World Kindness Day by focusing on friendship! Our students put so much heart into writing kind notes on the back of stickers and gifting them to members of the BCE community. 💌✨ It warmed our hearts to see the thoughtfulness and generosity flowing through our halls. We absolutely LOVE kindness at Bear Creek Elementary!

We love our community partners. We are so thankful to have had the Garden Club visit Bear Creek. They read to third grade last week.

Golden Paws and Blue Paws Focus: Work Hard 🏅 This cub has been working hard all year, showing respect to other students and teachers, and showing kindness each day. He has been working hard for his goals this week! We love his passion for things; it will take him so far! We're so proud of him. She is someone we can always count on to do the right thing! She is trustworthy and starts her work right away. Way to go, she is amazing! He is an outstanding student! He has a positive attitude and is always excited to learn! She always has her hands up to participate during lessons. She works hard and gives no excuses! She participates in every lesson. She always has her hand up, ready to go. She shows no excuses and works hard. Focus: Be Kind ☀️ He is such a fun friend to all in class! He follows the Credo every day and encourages others to do so. Proud of him and the young man he is becoming! She is so kind to everyone in our classroom. She is a ray of sunshine! We love this cub! She was so nice and shared one of her three snacks with a friend. She is always so kind! He helped a classmate get up at recess after he had fallen down. That’s what showing respect and being kind looks like! Focus: Show Respect & Leadership 🐻 She is a leader in our classroom and our grade. She has offered to help walk a new friend to EDP every day! He demonstrates the Bear Creek Credo every day by doing his best work, showing respect to the teacher and his classmates. He shows up ready and excited to learn. His positivity really shines in the classroom. This cub follows directions, helps friends, and is sweet. He is truly showing respect at school and being kind. ✨ This Week's Magic Makers! ✨ The spirit of our Magic Beings team is alive and well at Bear Creek! Each week, we shine a spotlight on staff members who go above and beyond to create a truly magical learning environment for our Cubs. This week, we are thrilled to celebrate three exceptional Magic Makers! Mrs. Macik: Setting the Stage for Goodness We want to give a huge round of applause to Mrs. Macik for recognizing the outstanding behavior of her entire class! After receiving countless compliments from adults across the building, Mrs. Macik celebrated her students' hard work, focus, and commitment to doing the right thing every day with a super fun Pajama Day. This special reward allowed the class to celebrate their amazing accomplishment of learning how to be great citizens and learners. Thank you, Mrs. Macik, for fostering such a positive and supportive classroom community! Mrs. Kroesche: Crown-Wearing Classroom Queen Our 5th-grade students are experiencing some real magic with Mrs. Kroesche! She is a dedicated and invaluable member of the 5th-grade team, working hard to create engaging new lessons for both Math and Science. Mrs. Kroesche has truly demonstrated her dedication by teaching her students the essential skills they need to manage themselves independently in the classroom. This is especially impressive as she works with small groups—all while wearing a crown! Mrs. Kroesche's creativity and hard work are helping her 5th-grade Cubs build confidence and thrive. Dr. Cortesio: Maestro of Music and Movement Finally, we recognize the incredible dedication and talent of our music teacher, Dr. Cortesio. She is a true force of creativity and energy! After weeks of after-school practice, she led the Percussion Club to a phenomenal performance at last week’s pep rally, teaching our Cubs how to be the best musicians they can be. Dr. Cortesio also led a wonderful "first" for our school: a dazzling First Grade performance where our Cubs showcased their amazing singing and dancing skills. The music and movement were the perfect conclusion to our successful First Grade Math and Music Night this past week. We are so grateful for the countless hours of time, energy, and creativity Dr. Cortesio pours into our students! Golden Paws and Blue Paws This cub truly embodies the "Work Hard" and "No Excuses" parts of the Creek Credo. He never gives up when things get tough—he perseveres and keeps trying his best! When a classmate had a tough technology issue, this cub stepped up and fixed it, even when the teacher couldn't! She showed incredible initiative and kindness by helping a fellow student succeed. This action exemplifies respect and a generous spirit. She does an awesome job of sharing and taking turns. This week, she’s been a great team leader, making sure everything is fair and that everyone at her table gets a turn. This cub definitely shows respect and is kind to her team! This cub is always going above and beyond for everyone! He shows all four pieces of the Creek Credo—Work Hard, Show Respect, Be Kind, and No Excuses—every single day! Mrs. Herring is so proud of him! She exemplifies respect during instruction by showing a listening body and participating actively in the lesson and center activity. She is kind, respectful, and works hard every day, making her a wonderful, positive role model for all students. This cub is a very kind friend. He truly works hard on his goals and is getting better every single day—that's the "No Excuses" attitude! This cub is using math strategies with cubes in the multiplying decimals work in math class. They are truly working hard to master new concepts! After school, this cub and a classmate found a student’s communication iPad and immediately returned it to me. I'm so proud of how responsible they were! This truly shows respect for others’ property and is a great example of being kind. He is kind to his teachers and classmates. He shows respect by staying quiet and tracking the speaker during whole group time. He works hard, participating in discussions and giving full effort during group and independent work. We are so impressed with this cub’s work ethic and respect! She is continually setting an excellent example for everyone by staying on task, participating, and showing respect to teachers and classmates. She is an awesome example of the Creek Credo: Works Hard, No Excuses (never complains), Be Kind, and Show Respect!

Bear Creek's Magic Makers of the Week! Teachers of the Week: The Magic Begins with Them! This week, we are thrilled to celebrate two teachers who truly embody our theme, "The Magic Begins With You." They consistently go above and beyond their daily responsibilities to create a fantastic experience for our students. It is our great pleasure to announce that Miss Beach and Miss Perry are the new co-sponsors for our Student Council! This is an incredible opportunity for our 4th and 5th-grade students to develop leadership skills, serve their school community, and have a voice. Miss Beach and Miss Perry are already working on the details and will be sending out information to families within the next few days about how students can apply to join the Student Council. Please join us in thanking Miss Beach and Miss Perry for stepping up and creating this wonderful new avenue for student leadership!

Today is Custodian Appreciation Day, and we want to take a moment to give a massive thank you to the incredible custodial team here at Bear Creek! Every single day, your hard work behind the scenes ensures that our school is not just clean, but a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for all our students and staff. From scrubbing floors to tackling unexpected spills and making sure every classroom is ready for learning, your dedication does not go unnoticed. You are truly the backbone of our school, and we are so grateful for all you do to help Bear Creek shine. Thank you, team, for making our school a wonderful place to be!

Golden Paws and Blue Paws Celebrating Cubs Who Live the Creek Credo This cub is kind to friends in ECSE and helps them feel included and supported during playtime! He works hard during lessons with no excuses. He always tries his best and is respectful to his teacher. When this cub saw a classmate was upset, he told him to take a deep breath to calm down. He was wonderfully kind and helpful. She is a positive role model to her classmates and works hard in class every day. This cub shows no excuses when working in centers. She tries hard to participate, even when her sister isn't here! Way to go for working hard on transitioning to PE. She comes in every day and is ready to work hard! Keep up the great work. He has consistently been following the Creek Credo since the first day of school! He is kind to friends and quick to follow directions and show respect. She shows no excuses and is a great leader in class! She shows up ready to learn and help and always has a positive attitude! Way to go! This cub comes to class each day with a smile and a hug! She loves to help others and is kind to everyone! She is incredibly brave and shows no excuses when she raises her hand and volunteers to read from the board. He is always there to lend a helping hand to his friends. This cub has an awesome work ethic, especially in writing. He takes his time thinking and adds more details to his writing to make it better. We are so proud of him as a student and especially as a writer! He picked up a piece of trash in front of the door, even though it wasn't his. This shows great respect for the school. She exemplifies each of our Bear Creek Credo principles every single day! We are so proud of all the hard work she has put in this year! He is always on task, completes all of his work even when it is difficult, and owns up to any mistakes he makes. Kind, helpful, respectful, and a hard worker! When a student was out of the room during dismissal, this cub packed up all of her things and took them to her switch class for her without being asked. He is always an example of how to do the right thing. He is a good influence on his classmates. He has shown leadership in the past few weeks. He works quietly and does what is asked of him at all times. She shows the BCE credo on a daily basis! She is always participating in class and works hard to understand 3rd grade. She is someone who leads our class in how to be a model student. Keep up the amazing work! He is such a great part of class! He is always willing to help others, offer kind words, and is one of the most positive kiddos we know! We are so excited to watch him grow this year! She goes above and beyond constantly! Whenever we look around, she is constantly setting the example of the Creek Credo! She will never go unnoticed—continue being the amazing leader she is! This cub is a leader in both classes every single day and always gives 100% in all assignments!
