Hello Bear Creek! My name is Carly Saum, and I am so excited to join the Bear Creek Elementary family as a 2nd grade teacher. I’m coming from Melissa ISD, where I had the joy of teaching 1st grade for the past two years. I’m originally from the McKinney area, but I moved to this community last summer with my fiancé, Carson—we’re getting married this December!
I also just became a first-time dog mom to a 12-week-old golden retriever named Goose, who has quickly become my pride and joy. In my free time, I love traveling, spending quality time with friends, family, and Goose, taking yoga classes, going to the gym, and curling up with a good book on my Kindle. What I love most about teaching is witnessing the joy on students’ faces when they discover something new—there’s truly nothing like it.

LEVEL UP
We want to give a huge shout-out to Ms. Gamill, who truly leveled up this year in so many ways! This week, she quickly organized i-Ready focus groups that brought together parents, teachers, and students. This was a massive undertaking, and she pulled it off flawlessly in a very short time!
Ms. Gamill is an incredible asset to our school community. She was instrumental in helping all of our teachers stay on pace with assessments throughout the year and, even more importantly, she helped countless students with their academic language skills. Thank you, Ms. Gamill, for embodying the Creek Credo and for your outstanding dedication to our students and staff!

Last week, we had the pleasure of celebrating a significant "level up" for our youngest learners – the incredible Kindergarten Class of 2037! Our 76 Cubs shone brightly as they participated in their kindergarten graduation ceremony.
The students performed beautifully and navigated the complexities of the ceremony with confidence. From remembering their cues to sharing their songs and smiles, they impressed us all. Hearing their names called and watching them receive their certificates of completion was a moment of pride for our entire school community.
We extend our congratulations to each and every one of our kindergarten graduates. You have laid a fantastic foundation for your educational journey, and we are so excited to watch you continue to grow and learn. Your next big milestone here at BCE will be your 5th-grade completion ceremony – keep reaching for those new levels!

We are always leveling up at school! This week, we want to give a huge shout-out to our incredible kindergarteners who truly embraced our "Spreading Kindness" initiative, a core part of the Creek Credo.
Thanks to a silent auction item from Ms. Magana, some lucky kindergarten winners got to participate in a special kindness craft project. They made two gift bags each, designed to spread happiness and show kindness to others. It was wonderful to see their creativity and hear their excitement about sharing their creations!
We're so grateful for your continued partnership in teaching the Creek Credo at home. Your support helps us instill these important values in our students every day.
